The research team supervised by professor Wilfried Mokwa researches microsystems for implantation into human tissue. Research projects include retinal implants, pressure sensors in the portal vein or implantable glucose sensors for diabetes patients.

Professor Uwe Schnakenberg researches microsystems for sensing and actuation on small fluid volumes. Current projects include lab-on-chip systems for diagnosis on tumor markers by electrical impedance spectroscopy and surface acoustic wave sensors as well as actuators for mechanobiological investigation on cell functions and differentiation.
